This week, we have continued to read through the second section of Elie Wiesel's Night (47-84). Menu of Questions #2 are due on Monday for a 40-point formative grade. In addition, we completed a summarizing and paraphrasing activity with Shylock's "Hath Not a Jew" monologue from William Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice.

As I am out today:
1. Students will receive vocabulary worksheet #5, which is due before the end of class. Quiz over these terms is on Friday. 2. Students will submit their Menu of Questions #1 for a 50-point formative grade. Due before the end of the period. 3. Students receive the Menu of Questions #2 for a 40-point formative grade. 4. Students are expected to silently read 47-56. Reading comprehension quiz over these pages tomorrow for a formative grade. Continue reading Night. After reading the article aloud as a class, student broke groups to create a timeline of 10 important events in Dr. Mengele's life. This activity counts toward the article of the week reflection; however, students are still expected to complete 7-10 annotations (due on Friday).
Continued reading Night. Work on Menu of Questions #1, which is a 50-point formative grade due on Monday, October 26th.
1. Today, we continued reading Elie Wiesel's Night.
2. We studied the Nuremberg Laws and their effect on the Jews. All first-time 10th graders will be PSAT testing 1st-5th period today. 6th Block will have the opportunity to catch up on missing/incomplete work.
1. Students received time to complete their questions from Terrible Things and "First They Came."
2. We continued reading from Night. 3. Students received time to complete their Menu of Questions #1. 1. Today we began reading Elie Wiesel's Night.
2. We continued with learning and reading about an allegory, Terrible Things, and comparing to the poem, "First They Came." In addition to reading, students had a set of questions to answer in regards to the stories. 1. Student received time to study prior to taking their Vocabulary Quiz #4, andr/auto.
2. Either yesterday or today, students went to the Media Center to check out Elie Wiesel's Night. Please bring your copy of Night to class everyday until we finish the book! |
