As part of a book club my friends and I have, we recently chose Jessica Knoll's Luckiest Girl Alive. I was the one to recommend the novel, so I feel responsible for the outcome. I read the story at the beginning of my vacation, within the last week. "They" compare it to Gillian Flynn, author of Gone Girl (which I read and enjoyed and saw the movie) and Dark Places (which I'll review in a moment). The protagonist TifAni, or Ani, is not relatable. I did not like her. She was a brat. Ugh, I don't even know what to say about her. She did survive something traumatic; however, I did not feel for her. Maybe that makes me heartless. Needless to say, I have three friends who will be reading it. Maybe they'll have something more insightful to say about it. |
